Manifesting Mischief: A Playful Look at the 7 Deadly Sins through the Lens of the Law of Attraction

Unlocking Your Potential: Transforming Sins into Strengths with Self-Discovery and Manifestation

My horrible haircut

Last week, while I was on a car journey with my friends while going to Porto, I was recounting how my hairdresser had decided to make me look ridiculous by giving me a dreadful fringe and miserably destroying my beautiful long hair.

I complained to my friends, revealing to them that I am aware of being very vain, but that my vanity didn’t hurt anyone and wasn’t ultimately a serious sin.
This sparked a discussion about whether vanity is indeed a capital sin.
From there, a discussion arose that led us to review the seven deadly sins in their entirety, trying to recall them according to the famous film “Seven” with Brad Pitt, but also thanks to Dante Alighieri’s “Inferno” (which we are made to read for an entire year in Italy).

I have never heard the authors on the law of attraction mention the seven deadly sins, but I wanted to reflect deeply on how these sins can impact the achievement of our goals, and in particular the achievement of our happiness, which I believe is the primary desire of everyone.

As our conversations unfolded, I realized that the seven deadly sins are not only morally questionable aspects of our humanity, but they could also have a significant impact on our ability to attract positivity into our lives. Each sin, with its nuances and temptations, can act as an obstacle to our personal growth and well-being. So, I decided to explore more deeply how vanity, gluttony, wrath, and the other sins intertwine with the principles of the law of attraction. What I discovered was enlightening, a revelation that I hope will lead to a greater understanding of ourselves and our deepest desires.

For example, vanity might drive us to seek others’ approval or accumulate material goods to feed our ego. However, when we understand that true wealth lies in gratitude and sharing, we can transform our desire for abundance into an act of generosity. By practicing the art of giving without expecting anything in return, we not only manifest prosperity in our lives but also contribute to the well-being of others. It’s as if the universe responds to our generosity by amplifying the flow of blessings to us and those around us.

how they punished these sins in Dante's "Inferno"
  1. Greed:

Greed, understood as an excessive desire for wealth and power, can be seen as a sort of over-enthusiasm for financial success. However, in the philosophy of the law of attraction, we recognize that it’s natural to desire prosperity and financial security. It’s important, though, to find a healthy balance between seeking material success and being open to sharing and generosity.

When we focus solely on accumulating wealth for ourselves, we might block the flow of abundance in the universe. The key is to cultivate a mindset of gratitude and sharing. By practicing the art of giving without expecting anything in return, we manifest trust in the universe’s abundance and open the doors to receiving even greater blessings.

Instead of seeing greed as a sin, we can transform it into an opportunity to practice gratitude and generosity. When we freely share what we have with others, we create a virtuous circle of abundance that flows into our lives and the lives of those around us.

  1. Gluttony:

Gluttony, often interpreted as an excessive desire to indulge in sensory pleasures, can be seen as a celebration of the beauty and variety of the world around us. In the law of attraction, we understand the irresistible allure of experiences like delicious food that ignite our passion and make us feel alive.

However, it’s important to remember that true pleasure comes from balance and mindfulness. When we immerse ourselves in sensory experiences without restraint, we might lose sight of our connection to the present moment and our emotional and spiritual well-being.

The key is to find a balance between the fire of passion and awareness of our seductive power. Learning to respect ourselves and others in moments of pleasure allows us to transform gluttony from a mere instinct into an experience of appreciation and gratitude for the wonder of life.

Instead of allowing ourselves to be consumed by craving, we can use gluttony as an opportunity to explore the boundaries of pleasure and connect more deeply with ourselves and those around us. By celebrating sensuality and the power of attraction, we can embrace our wild side and live each moment with passion and gratitude.

  1. Wrath:

Wrath, often associated with intense emotions and impulsive reactions, can be seen as a sign of deep passion and a sense of justice. In the law of attraction, we understand that it’s natural to experience emotions like anger in the face of injustices or frustrations.

However, it’s important to remember that wrath can be a destructive force if not managed constructively. When we allow ourselves to be carried away by anger, we might end up attracting more negative situations into our lives.

But there’s another side of wrath that is often overlooked: its ability to awaken us from apathy and depression. In the scale of emotions, wrath is a step up from depression because it gives us a sense of power and control over our situation. Instead of remaining stuck in negativity, wrath can be a catalyst for change and transformation.

The key is to learn to manage wrath in a healthy and effective way. By practicing mindfulness and appreciation, we can transform anger into an opportunity for personal growth and emotional healing.

Instead of suppressing anger or allowing it to overwhelm us, we can transform it into positive energy for change. By using our anger as a driver for constructive action and the pursuit of justice, we can turn negative situations into experiences of growth and healing.

  1. Envy:

Envy, often accompanied by feelings of lack and comparison with others, can be seen as a sign of desire and aspiration. In the law of attraction, we understand that it’s natural to experience emotions like envy in the face of others’ success or happiness.

However, it’s important to remember that envy can become a barrier to our emotional well-being and self-realization if not managed constructively. When we allow ourselves to be consumed by envy, we might end up attracting more situations of dissatisfaction into our lives.

The key is to transform envy into an opportunity for personal growth. Instead of constantly comparing ourselves to others and feeling their success as a threat, we can use envy as a drive to improve ourselves and achieve our goals.

Instead of letting ourselves be discouraged by feelings of envy, we can turn them into inspiration. By looking at others’ success as a sign of what is possible, we can cultivate an attitude of gratitude and determination in pursuing our dreams. Remember that there is enough abundance in the universe for everyone, and that others’ success can be an encouragement for ourselves to grow and realize our full potential.

  1. Pride:

Pride, often associated with an excessive sense of superiority or a reluctance to ask for help, can be seen as a sign of self-affirmation and self-confidence. In the law of attraction, we understand that it’s natural to feel proud of our successes and personal achievements.

However, it’s important to remember that pride can become a barrier to our personal growth and connection with others if not balanced. When we allow pride to dominate us, we might end up pushing away people and opportunities that could enrich our lives.

The key is to cultivate a healthy and authentic pride, based on awareness of our abilities and successes, but also on openness to learning from others and asking for help when needed.

Instead of letting pride separate us from others, we can use it as a source of inspiration to pursue our goals and support others in achieving theirs. By celebrating our achievements without falling into arrogance, we can share our success with generosity and humility, creating an environment of collaboration and mutual growth.

  1. Lust:

Lust, that overwhelming spark of desire that envelops us in physical and sexual pleasures, is like an anthem to the sensuality and beauty of life itself. In physical attraction, we understand the irresistible call of sensory experiences that ignite our passion and make us feel alive.

However, it’s important to remember that lust, if left unchecked, can become a rushing river that overwhelms our emotional balance and our connection with others. When we allow ourselves to be carried away by the ecstasy of desire, we risk losing sight of our true selves and the deep bond we share with others.

The key is to find a balance between the fire of passion and awareness of our seductive power. Learning to respect ourselves and others in moments of pleasure allows us to transform lust from a mere instinct into an experience of appreciation and gratitude for the wonder of life.

Instead of allowing ourselves to be consumed by craving, we can use lust as an opportunity to explore the boundaries of pleasure and connect more deeply with ourselves and those around us. By celebrating sensuality and the power of attraction, we can embrace our wild side and live each moment with passion and gratitude.

  1. Sloth:

Sloth, often disguised as apathy or laziness, can conceal a deeper inability to evolve and aspire to something greater. It’s a condition that not only holds us back from wanting more but can be fueled by negative comments from others, those that ask us, “Why should you want more?” or “Why make the effort?”.

In a world dominated by others’ expectations, sloth can become a plague on humanity, blocking our ability to manifest our deepest dreams and aspirations. What’s even more insidious is how such comments can influence our view of ourselves and our goals, undermining our confidence and determination.

In the law of attraction, we understand that what we focus our attention and energy on manifests in our reality. So, if we allow negative comments from others to influence us, we might attract more situations that confirm our inability to evolve and pursue our dreams.

The key is to recognize the power of our intentions and resist external negativity. Instead of letting others influence our goals, we can focus on our vision and work with determination to achieve it. No matter what others say, it’s important to listen to our inner voice and believe in our potential to manifest our deepest desires.

In this way, we can transform sloth from an obstacle into an opportunity to reaffirm our inner strength and pursue our dreams with passion and determination.

During the car journey with my friends, we decided that ultimately this last sin was the gravest capital sin because it insidiously infiltrates even into the lives of others, becoming a cultural habit rather than the condition of a single person.

In general, however, the seven deadly sins, seen through the lens of the law of attraction, offer us a precious opportunity to explore our relationship with ourselves, with others, and with the world around us. Each of these sins represents a unique challenge that we can transform into an opportunity for personal growth and the realization of our dreams.

Remember that in the law of attraction, what we focus our attention and energy on manifests in our reality. So, as we recognize and confront our inner sins, it’s important to cultivate a mindset of self-awareness and gratitude, avoiding feeling shame for having these human thoughts, but instead, using each challenge as an opportunity to learn and grow.

Instead of allowing sins to dominate our lives, we can transform them into a motivating force to pursue our goals and dreams with passion and determination. With a constant commitment to self-awareness and personal improvement, we can create a life full of meaning, fulfillment, and abundance.

Always remember the power we have to attract what we desire into our lives and to manifest our full potential. With this awareness, we can embrace every challenge as an opportunity to grow and thrive, guided by the wisdom of the law of attraction and our determination to live a life full and authentic.

  2. Interesting thoughts, Luna 🙂Your next post should be “how to transform X into Y”. I think these qualities are quite hard to turn into something positive, but I will be happy if you prove me wrong.

Very interesting! I’m particularly struck by what you said about gluttony keeping you living in the present moment. And I also love what you said about anger being good when it wakes you up from apathy.

    • I think many people can relate to that. These are moments in our lives, not characteristics of our personalities. That is what most people struggle with. It’s easier to accept one moment of envy, gluttony, apathy.. then to carry those with us as parts of ourselves 🙂
