Since I was a child, I’ve often wondered: “If I were an animal, what would I be?” This question has lingered in my mind, and finally, I found unexpected inspiration while watching the television series “His Dark Materials”. In that parallel world, each individual is accompanied by a daemon animal that reflects their soul, a companion that changes shape until adulthood, when it stabilizes permanently.
I’ve always oscillated between various favorite animals: the horse, the cat, snakes, owls, and even parrots. However, only a few truly resonate with me. The horse fascinates me for its sensitivity and majesty, symbolizing a connection with nature and requiring affectionate care, a resemblance I feel close to my heart.
The owl, on the other hand, holds a special charm. Soft like a cat, sharp and intelligent, it reminds me of Archimedes from “The Sword in the Stone”. Its wisdom seems to come from ancient times, capable of peering into the depths of the human soul with disarming clarity. It’s an animal that has visited me in dreams and during totem animal meditations, leaving an indelible imprint on my consciousness.
If you too want to try this meditation, here it is:
Close your eyes and let your mind free from any worries, immerse yourself in the depths of your inner being. Breathe slowly, feeling the steady rhythm of your breath connecting you to life itself. Now, envision a serene place, enveloped by nature, where you can feel safe and protected. In this place, patiently await, asking the universe to guide you to your spirit animal. With confidence and openness, allow the image of an animal to form in your mind. Observe the details, the colors, the movements of this spiritual being that presents itself to you. Welcome its message with gratitude and an open heart, knowing that this animal is here to guide, protect, and teach you important lessons about your life and spiritual journey. Allow yourself the time to deeply connect with your spirit animal, receiving its wisdom and strength with love and respect.
Snakes, with their sinuous elegance and fascinating colors, carry an aura of mystery and ancestral wisdom. Symbolizing transformation and rebirth, they represent the rise of the Kundalini, the dormant primal energy at the base of the spine. Their ability to shed their skin is a reminder of our own capacity for regeneration and inner growth. They are creatures that invite us to delve into darkness and embrace the power of knowledge and transformation.
Additionally, there are those magical encounters with animals in dreams. Although they haven’t happened to me often, recently I had an extraordinary experience where two small birds, likely sparrows, accompanied me to my grandparents’ village, conversing with me as if they were people. Their presence enveloped me in comforting warmth, and I can swear I felt the beating of their wings near my face, leaving an indelible mark on my memory.
Seeking a more tangible answer to my inner quest, I decided to try one of those online tests that assign an animal based on the answers provided. Not so much to blindly believe in it, but to see if there was a correlation between the animals I love and my deep identity. The result was certainly interesting: neither an owl nor a horse emerged, but a falcon, specifically the peregrine falcon.
From a symbolic standpoint, the falcon embodies the power of vision, determination, and adaptability, reflecting my inclination to embark on new personal and professional paths. Individuals who identify with the falcon are often determined in pursuing their goals, endowed with a strong spirit of observation and acute intuition. They are true leaders, vigorous, optimistic, and passionate, but also dreamers who devote themselves fervently to their important stories. However, they can also be possessive and jealous in love.
Ultimately, the falcon represents a symbol of freedom, adventure, and adaptation, underscoring my determined and change-ready nature. A description that surprisingly resonates with me.
If you’re curious to take the same test, I’ll leave the link here. Wishing you all a splendid day of discoveries and self-reflection, and I’ll also leave you with this wonderful song.
