The Importance of Thought in Our Lives
Thought is everything in the life of each of us. It is the engine that drives our actions, our choices, and ultimately, our very existence. There are periods in everyone’s life when everything seems incredibly still, static, as if we are stuck in a kind of stasis where nothing changes. This sense of immobility can be exhausting, and although changes in life often frighten us, staticity can also make us feel deeply uncomfortable and dissatisfied.
The fear of change is a powerful emotion that causes us increasing anxiety, leading to an even deeper block. When we are paralysed by the fear of the new and the unknown, we tend to remain chained to our habits and routines, even when they no longer satisfy us. This vicious cycle of fear and staticity can become a prison from which it is difficult to escape.
I myself have experienced this period intensely. For years, I held the same job, saw the same friends, and refrained from deep relationships due to past traumas. Every potential change, rather than being seen as an opportunity for growth, terrified me. Additionally, the people around me viewed each of my attempts to change with suspicion, seeing it as a potential threat. This is because, as the saying goes, like attracts like: we attract what we are, not what we want. Consequently, the people around us tend to reflect our own fears and insecurities, behaving in ways that reinforce our state of immobility.
But how can we overcome this vibrational block if everything around us seems to reflect this staticity? The first step is to recognise that change is inevitable and necessary for personal growth. Accepting that the fear of change is natural but does not have to dominate us is essential. Starting with small steps, facing minor changes, can help build the confidence needed to tackle larger transformations. Surrounding yourself with people who encourage and support change, rather than fear it, can make a big difference. Finally, working on oneself, perhaps through meditation, therapy, or other personal growth practices, can help transform our vibrational energy, making us more open and receptive to change.
Ultimately, overcoming the vibrational block requires awareness, courage, and the willingness to embrace the unknown. It is a journey that takes time and patience, but it is the only way to break the cycle of staticity and open ourselves up to new possibilities and opportunities in life.
How to Overcome the Vibrational Block
How can we overcome this vibrational block if everything around us reflects this staticity and immobility?
I do not believe there is a specific, unique formula that suits everyone, but certainly, the way to start is fundamental:
Introspection: Starting with the observation of one’s thoughts is essential. Noticing if these thoughts often lead to the same limiting beliefs can reveal much about what keeps us stuck. Being honest with oneself and accepting one’s current reality is the first step towards change. Nothing can begin without careful observation and without taking responsibility for how we feel. This means recognising our feelings, accepting them without judgment, and understanding that they are part of our growth journey.
Beyond this, it is crucial to observe our past life, recalling moments when we have already experienced similar periods of blockage and recognising that we managed to overcome them. Often, we have done so without performing extraordinary feats but simply by letting time and our resilience guide us towards the solution. This awareness can give us the confidence needed to face the present, reminding us that we are capable of overcoming difficulties.
Remembering that changes in life are inevitable: We can only choose how to face them, and often, when we face them with courage and confidence, unexpected opportunities and joys are revealed. Every change, however frightening it may seem, brings with it the possibility of growth and renewal. When we stop resisting change and begin to embrace it, we can discover new aspects of ourselves and our lives that we had never considered before.
Facing changes with an open and positive mindset can transform challenges into opportunities.
Observation: Observing oneself carefully inside also helps us understand what we truly want, what genuinely pleases us, rather than what we think should please us, and what we deeply desire, rather than what we think we should want. This is a seemingly simple but actually complex concept, deeply rooted in everyone’s life. We are often influenced by external, social, and cultural expectations that lead us to confuse our authentic desires with those imposed on us from the outside. Practising self-observation means going beyond these external influences and connecting with our true needs and desires.
Observing oneself also means understanding one’s flow of thoughts, habits, and emotional reactions. It is a process of self-reflection that requires time and patience. Only when we observe these aspects of ourselves without judgment can we begin to change them. This impartial observation allows us to see our thought and behaviour patterns for what they are, without overloading them with negativity or criticism. In this way, we become aware of what we need to grow and change positively.
A very important and difficult step for me was recognising that I had been in a deep state of depression. It was extremely challenging to reach this awareness because, for a very long time, I believed it was simply a part of my character, something intrinsic to my personality. In reality, what I was experiencing was a subconscious learning of harmful thought patterns that occasionally resurfaced. Recognising this was a painful but liberating process. I realised that those thoughts did not define who I truly was; they were just negative mental patterns I had internalised.
Only through careful observation and introspection was I able to separate myself from those harmful thoughts. This process of self-reflection allowed me to see that depression was not an integral part of me, but a condition I could face and manage. I learned to identify moments when those negative thoughts began to emerge and, thanks to this, I learned to counteract them. This self-discovery journey taught me the importance of treating oneself with kindness and recognising one’s limits and needs.
Self-observation is a powerful personal growth tool. It allows us to distinguish between what is authentically ours and what has been imposed on us, between what we truly want and what we think we should want. It is a continuous journey towards greater self-awareness and acceptance, enabling us to live a more authentic and fulfilling life.
Making Space for the New by Creating a Void
Remembering this step is perhaps the most challenging thing one can do. It is mentioned by many teachers, but few remember to do it. It can sometimes be a painful, lonely process, but incredibly useful. Richard Bandler recently discussed it in a video interview on YouTube (you can find it at this link). Some time ago, I happened to listen to him, and I felt as if a weight had dropped on my head due to the obviousness of the concept.
Many other people in various fields have discussed it: psychology professors, yoga teachers, Abraham Hicks has mentioned it several times, yet it seems I forget it every time. To make room for the new and unblock our life, we need to create a space that can allow the new to settle and enter.
This is not just about physical space but primarily mental and temporal space. Nowadays, we dedicate 100% of our time to passively receiving information from the outside. Try to see how your life changes simply by blocking information from films, videos, music, and social media for two hours a day.
When we allow ourselves this void, we give our minds the time to reorganise and open up to new ideas and perspectives. The void is not a lack but an opportunity to fill our lives with what we truly desire and what makes us grow. It is an act of courage but also of love towards ourselves, a fundamental step for our well-being and personal evolution. Experiencing this void can lead us to discover aspects of ourselves that would otherwise remain hidden, blocked by the constant frenzy and noise surrounding us.
Next time you feel overwhelmed, try to create this space. Choose a time of day to completely detach from distractions and immerse yourself in silence. You do not need to do anything special: you can simply breathe, observe, and be present in the moment. Over time, you will see that this simple exercise can profoundly impact your life, allowing you to welcome the new with an open mind and a heart ready to embrace new opportunities.
Conclusion
So, if you are experiencing a period of staticity where your days seem to repeat in a monotonous routine and you feel emotionally drained, give yourself the time and space needed to reflect and observe your inner world. This introspection is crucial to truly understand your desires, needs, and aspirations. Above all, allow new things to enter your life. Embrace change as an opportunity for growth and renewal rather than a threat.
Do not fear change. If you learn to know yourself deeply and understand what you truly desire, the most beautiful novelties will be ready to manifest. Often, change brings unexpected opportunities and joys that you could never have imagined. However, to welcome these novelties, it is essential to have faith in yourself and the transformation process you are going through.
Embrace every small sign of change with enthusiasm and positivity. Each step towards a new direction can open doors that previously seemed inaccessible. Surround yourself with people who support and encourage you, and remember that the courage to face the unknown is the first step towards a fuller and more satisfying life.
Finally, remember that life is a continuous journey of discovery and growth. Give yourself permission to explore new paths, make mistakes, and learn from them. Staticity and routine can be comforting, but it is in embracing change that you will find true fulfilment. Trust in your journey and the infinite possibilities that life has to offer.
